Enviva is led by a team of executives with decades of experience in renewable energy, finance, manufacturing, and operations.
Mr. Keppler is a co-founder and the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Enviva. Over the past decade, Mr. Keppler has been responsible for setting Enviva’s strategic direction and leading the company’s growth from a startup company to become the world’s largest producer of woody biomass fuels with operations in Mississippi, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Florida. The company’s portfolio of facilities now comprises about 4.5 million metric tons of production capacity. As part of the company’s strategic vertical integration, these processing facilities export to customers in the United Kingdom, the European Union, Japan, and South Korea through Enviva’s wholly-owned purpose-built wood pellet port facilities Chesapeake, Virginia and Wilmington, North Carolina and also through deep water marine terminals in Panama City, Florida, and Mobile, Alabama.
Mr. Keppler led Enviva Partners, LP (NYSE: EVA) to its initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange on April 29, 2015, making it the first publicly traded company in the industry.
Mr. Keppler serves on the Board of the Sustainable Biomass Program (SBP), a non-profit standard-setting organization that manages a voluntary certification system designed for woody biomass used in energy production.
Mr. Keppler holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Economy from the University of California, Berkeley, as well as a Master of Business Administration from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia.
Mr. Even has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Enviva since June 2018. In this role, Mr. Even leads Enviva’s finance and accounting organization and provides strategic leadership on finance matters. He has 25 years of experience with operational and strategic finance, including in senior financial and management roles at master limited partnerships. Most recently, Mr. Even served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Alon USA Energy, Inc. and served as President and Chief Financial Officer of Alon USA Partners, LP. While at Alon, Mr. Even led Alon’s parent company’s successful IPO on the NYSE in 2005 and the successful IPO of Alon’s master limited partnership in 2012. During his tenure at Alon, he led the company’s two major acquisitions and scaled its finance organization to complement the growth of the company. Prior to joining Alon, Mr. Even served as the Chief Financial Officer of DCL Group in Tel Aviv, Israel, and as an auditor with KPMG. Mr. Even holds a Bachelor’s in Economics and Accounting from Bar-Ilan University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
As Executive Vice President, Corporate Development and General Counsel of Enviva Partners, and President and General Counsel of Enviva Development Holdings, Mr. Schmidt leads the development team that has been charged with expanding Enviva’s operating footprint and is responsible for all legal matters associated with the company’s worldwide activities.
Mr. Schmidt brings extensive executive leadership experience in the midstream energy sector to Enviva. He has worked on dozens of successful mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, bank and capital market financings, and a broad array of commercial transactions spanning the energy industry. Bill also has managed natural gas storage facilities and a variety of corporate administrative functions. Prior to joining Enviva in 2013, Mr. Schmidt was Senior Vice President & General Counsel of Buckeye Partners, L.P., a publicly-traded midstream energy company, and President of Lodi Gas Storage, L.L.C., its regulated natural gas storage subsidiary. Buckeye’s market capitalization quadrupled during his tenure, as the company was transformed from a regional pipeline company into a diversified midstream energy company with assets located across the US and in international markets.
Mr. Schmidt holds a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Drew University and a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School.
Thomas Meth is Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing and co-founder of Enviva. Thomas is responsible for Enviva’s business development, sales and commercial customer relations, as well as marketing and sustainability initiatives. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration in Austria as well as an M.B.A. from The Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at The University of Virginia. He lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife and two daughters and, in his spare time, he enjoys skiing, tennis, and history.
Mr. Smith has served as Executive Vice President, Operations since August 2016 and, prior to that, as Vice President, Operations since April 2014. Previously, he served as Director of Operations, NAA Division of Guilford Performance Textiles, a global textile manufacturing company, from March 2012 to July 2014. From August 2010 to March 2012, Mr. Smith also served as Director of Quality, NAA Division. Prior to joining Guilford, Mr. Smith worked as a Plant Manager at Pactiv, a food packaging manufacturer, from May 2009 to August 2010. Mr. Smith served as General Manager of a facility operated by United Plastics Group International from December 2005 to May 2009, after serving in other roles at the company from April 2002. From January 1999 to September 1999, he served as Production Supervisor of The General Motors Corporation, before serving as Mechanical Device/Tool and Die Supervisor from September 1999 to August 2000. Mr. Smith holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from GMI Engineering and Management Institute.
Ms. Kravtsova leads the teams responsible for communications and public and environmental affairs, ensuring adherence to Enviva’s values across all aspects of our business. Yana brings over 15 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, leading and executing a broad range of high-profile and complex initiatives in the global arena of law, renewable energy, growth and investments, and corporate governance. Ms. Kravtsova holds an LL.M. in International Legal Studies from American University’s Washington College of Law and a J.D. from Kuban State University in Krasnodar, Russia.
Joseph “Nic” Lane
Mr. Lane has served as Executive Vice President of Human Capital since March 2018. Previously, Mr. Lane was Vice President, Human Resources of Asia Pacific of Milliken & Company since 2015, after holding roles with progressively more responsibility since joining the company in 2001. Over the course of Mr. Lane’s career, he has gained a wealth of valuable experience dealing with talent-related matters associated with scaling organizations, mergers and acquisitions activity, industrial manufacturing, and international operations. Mr. Lane received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources Management from Clemson University in 2003 as well as an MBA from the Babcock Graduate School of Business Administration from Wake Forest University in 2009. He holds the Society for Human Resource Management certification for Senior HR Professionals (SPHR-CP).
Mr. Calloway joined Enviva as Vice President, Equity, Inclusion and Impact in May 2021. He is responsible for the development and implementation of Enviva’s strategy to strengthen our impact on environmental and social equity across our growing stakeholder base. He works to create strong partnerships that provide local communities with empowering programming and support, while bridging community and business goals. Mr. Calloway brings years of experience in public affairs, grassroots outreach, and legislation promoting environmental and social equity. In 2016, he founded Pine Street Strategies, a firm that advises corporate, non-profit, and political clients in public, legislative, and regulatory affairs. He also founded and served as the Chief Strategist for the National Voter Protection Action Fund, an organization committed to advocating for voter protection and anti-voter suppression legislation. Previously, Mr. Calloway worked with Anheuser Busch InBev where he oversaw their National Affairs practice. He has also worked as an attorney and was elected to serve as a State Representative in the Missouri General Assembly from 2009-2010. Mr. Calloway is a frequent contributor to news and public affairs programs. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Alabama A&M University and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law.
Mr. Hintz is a co-founder and Senior Vice President and Chief Engineer of Enviva. Since Enviva’s inception, he has been responsible for all technical aspects of project development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Enviva’s new and existing operations. With more than two decades’ experience in facility design, construction, operations, and reliability, Mr. Hintz brings a deep understanding of and extensive skills in economic analysis, conceptual engineering, process evaluation, and engineering and ongoing process improvement to Enviva’s technical evolution.
During his tenure at Enviva, Mr. Hintz has spearheaded the project management, engineering review, and process leadership of multiple biomass-to-energy and wood pellet manufacturing facilities in the United States and in Europe.
Mr. Hintz earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of South Carolina.
Mr. Lorraine has served as Senior Vice President, Commercial and Sustainability Operations since April 2021 and, prior to that, as Vice President, Customer Fulfillment since April 2018. He is responsible for managing all existing Enviva fuel contracts and executing and sourcing all shipping contracts, as well as maintaining strong relationships with customers. He also manages sustainability operations as they relate to Track and Trace® and the operational audits of Enviva’s pellet mills. Mr. Lorraine brings years of experience in the manufacturing industry where he expanded his knowledge in supply chain management and business development. From July 2014 to April 2018, Mr. Lorraine worked in the automotive industry at Motus Integrated Technologies, serving as a Vice President. Previously, he worked as Director, Global Headliner Products at Lear Corporation for four years and at Piston Automotive as Director of Business Development for six years. Mr. Lorraine holds an M.B.A. from Davenport University and a B.A. in Psychology from Albion College.
Mr. Taylor has served as Senior Vice President, Optimization and Origination since March 2020 and, prior to that, as Vice President, Optimization and Origination since February 2014. He has been an integral part of the sales and marketing team, spending the last six years developing new markets in Asia, most significantly in Japan. Mr. Taylor is responsible for managing contractual processes as they relate to executing new long-term offtake agreements, which underpin the infrastructure development of Enviva. In addition, he analyzes the broader market at large in order to deploy customized logistical solutions for customers to improve the Enviva value chain. Prior to joining Enviva, Mr. Taylor served as Vice President of Biomass Brokerage at Evolution Markets, where he developed and grew the company’s biomass business. He holds a B.A. in Commerce and an M.A. in International Economics and Finance from Ryerson University in Toronto and graduated from the Carbon Finance & Analytics Programme at the London Business School.
Dr. Jennifer Jenkins
Dr. Jenkins leads the team responsible for Enviva’s environmental stewardship, from guiding the development and implementation of policies that ensure the sustainability and traceability of the wood supply chain, to interacting with policymakers and other stakeholders on regulatory matters. With a technical background in carbon cycling and ecosystem science, she brings more than 20 years of experience working in government, academia, and the private sector at the interface between forests and climate. She holds a Ph.D. in ecosystem ecology from the University of New Hampshire, an M.B.A. from the University of Maryland’s RH Smith School of Business, a Master of Forest Science from Yale University, and a B.A. in Biology and Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College.
Mr. Seifert has served as Vice President, EHS and Operations since October 2020. Mr. Seifert joined Enviva in January 2017, first as Director of EHS and was subsequently promoted to Vice President of EHS. He works cross-functionally to lead efforts to ensure the health and safety of Enviva’s colleagues and operations, and holds responsibility for the reliability and productivity of our plants, allowing Enviva to continue to scale its global operations. He has been instrumental in establishing and supporting Enviva’s strong safety culture and Zero Incident Workplace. Mr. Seifert brings over 15 years of experience to Enviva, previously serving as Partner in the Operational Excellence Practice at Wilson Perumal & Company and an Operations Leader with Owens Corning. Prior to that, he worked as Manager of Business Strategy and Analysis and later as a Plant Manager for Georgia Pacific (Koch Industries). He began his professional career in the U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Propulsion Program as the Supply Officer on a nuclear-powered attack submarine. Mr. Seifert holds a B.S. in Business Administration from St. Louis University and an M.B.A. from the University of Georgia.
Mr. Ma has served as Vice President and Treasurer since June 2020. Mr. Ma joined Enviva in April 2017, first as the Director of Treasury before being promoted to Assistant Treasurer in 2019. Previously, he spent six years as Assistant Treasurer at Lightstone Group and gained experience from roles in treasury, financial planning and analysis, project financing, and capital markets coverage at Lend Lease Corporation and AXA Equitable. Mr. Ma holds a B.S. in Economics from the University of International Business & Economics in Beijing and a Master of International Business Studies from the University of South Carolina. He is a CFA Charterholder.
Ms. Walsh has served as Vice President, Investor Relations since March 2021. Prior to joining Enviva, Ms. Walsh spent six years at EnLink Midstream, an energy company headquartered in Dallas, Texas, where she was Vice President, Investor Relations & Tax. Prior to that, she was the Director of Tax & Investor Relations for Niska Gas Storage, an energy-focused master limited partnership headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Ms. Walsh holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from Dalhousie University, in Nova Scotia, Canada, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Mr. Wijetilleke is responsible for driving Enviva’s corporate strategy, managing integration processes, and leading technology. He is a veteran of creating comprehensive digital strategies and leading cross-functional business teams to drive results and brings more than 20 years of experience in high-growth environments inside the digital media and technology industries. Prior to joining Enviva, Mr. Wijetilleke held senior roles with increasingly broader responsibility in both tactical and strategic assignments, including various positions at Fortune 50 companies such as AOL–Time Warner and Comcast as well as in venture capital with Sherpalo Ventures–Kleiner Perkins Affiliate fund in India. He holds a Master of Economics from the London School of Economics, an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and a B.A. in International Relations from American University.
Mr. Young has served as Vice President and Corporate Controller since November 2018 and oversees all aspects of Enviva’s accounting functions, including corporate accounting, revenue accounting, operations accounting, payroll, financial reporting, and technical accounting. More broadly as Controller, he is responsible for the accounting systems and comprehensive set of controls to maintain fidelity of financial reporting and mitigate risk across the enterprise. Mr. Young has over 20 years of experience as a global controllership leader and in managing financial reporting at public companies across a broad range of industries. He spent nine years with AES, a Fortune 200 power company, in technical accounting and controllership. Most recently, he served as AES’s Vice President and Corporate Center Controller, managing a 30-person team and overseeing audits, payroll, and other key financial functions. Mr. Young previously worked for five years at the Securities and Exchange Commission, last serving as Assistant Chief Accountant. He earned public accounting experience while working at Ernst & Young. He holds a B.S. in Accounting and Management Information Systems from George Mason University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Mr. Geraghty has served as Vice President, Operations Finance since June 2018. Prior to that, he served as Vice President and Controller since January 2011. From July 2008 to January 2011, Mr. Geraghty was Project Manager at Rose Financial Services, a consulting firm that specializes in assisting early stage high-growth companies to scale their finance functions in preparation for private and public debt and equity offerings. Prior to that, he was Controller at The George Washington University Hospital since July 2002. From September 1999 to July 2002, Mr. Geraghty worked in the Assurance and Business Advisory Services of Arthur Andersen, LLP. Mr. Geraghty holds a B.S. in Accounting from Mount Saint Mary’s University, an M.B.A. from the George Washington University School of Business and holds a Certified Public Accountant accreditation.
Mr. Wolf has served as General Manager, Europe since January 2020. He is responsible for regulatory engagement and market development in the region, and for managing our European team in York, Berlin, and London. Mr. Wolf brings over 20 years of experience in the power industry with more than a decade of focus on biomass-derived power and fuel sourcing. He joins Enviva from Drax Power where he was responsible for trading, fuel sourcing, logistics and new fuels development, ultimately serving as Commercial Director for almost four years. Previously, he served as Head of Asset Management and Development, Director with Ørsted A/S (formerly DONG Energy) for five years. At Ørsted, he managed the development of four coal-to-biomass conversion projects and the associated redesign of the fuel supply chain. He began his career in consulting at ICF International and McKinsey & Co. Mr. Wolf holds a M.Sc. in Economics from Copenhagen University and speaks Danish and Spanish fluently, among other languages.
Ms. Rignall has served as Vice President of Capital Projects and Construction since mid-2020. Under her leadership, the project team is responsible for all technical deliverables and execution planning for various sizes of brownfield and greenfield projects at Enviva’s pellet production and port facilities. Prior to joining Enviva, Ms. Rignall spent 8 years with DCP Midstream leading teams through project development, execution, and day-to-day operations. She was a key leader in the development of a centralized operations optimization center, which has been the backbone to DCP’s successful digital transformation. With over 20 years of diverse experience in both the oil and gas and renewable energy industries, Ms. Rignall’s skills include first principles research, process design, project development and execution, and asset system optimization. Ms. Rignall holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Adams State College and a Master’s in Chemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
